Back to back filming: Blind Sailing international event in San Francisco June 1-3, then College Nationals Coed Championship in Austin Texas, June 6-8. Both events will be the largest for me. I will have 6 cameras and microphones to capture the on-board video. I feel sorry for the editors, but there should be no lack of footage! J-24 's for the Blind Sailing event will have the P5000 mount on the stern with VIO POV HD cameras and Sennheiser wireless microphones. And, at the mast will be the P50 mast mount with the same camera and microphone set up. 2 cameras on each the US boats!! 470's for the College Nationals will have the P50 mast mount with VIO POV HD cameras and Sennheiser microphones. Up to 6 boats. I have only had 2 camera set ups in the past College Nationals. Should be fun but quite a work out!! I hope to put up some highlights here and/or on the video page! Stay tuned! Yes!! I will be filming in Oakland CA for a Blind Sailing Regatta. Sailors from across the globe will be coming for this event. June 1st - June 3rd. They will be sailing out of the Island Yacht Club. More on this later! This is the first of a few videos I will edit from our trip to the Virgin Islands, Racing on "Safara" a Andrews 72, in the Rolex St Thomas Regatta! We learned so much and this video has some good training for all....especially how hard it is to bring down a large spinnaker....don't let it get in the water!! Watch as we tackle this problem! Here are a couple of pics of our crew and Host Randee and Jim Hurst. More videos to come...still working on them! Thanks to Jim and Randee Hurst of Safe Passage Sailing, we all had a great time sailing! Brian and Rich were very patient with us "beer can" racers teaching us the ropes of a large 72 foot yacht! Our fleet was put with a group of TP 52s and a couple of other very racy boats while the rest of us were cruising boats so we basically won the cruising division, or as Brian put it we won the "furniture division". I still am smiling as Brian handed me the helm while holding a good groove up wind, tacking and even rounding a mark until the jib blew out...not my fault a batten gave way and shreaded the upper part of the sail. Great fun!! You too can have this same adventure, see www.safepassagesailing.com More video of this trip to come!! New back stay mount worked great! Yesterday was full of excitement and enthusiasm, as we were about to test our skills...very please about the results!! Here are some high lights of the day! Today we test our skills or earn them as we train on Safara a beautiful 72 foot Yacht! Two days of training then racing begins on Friday. Hope to have some video tonight. First trial of our new back stay mount! Ready to try out our newest mount in St. Thomas! Here is a unedited pic of the prototype mount. I mounted it to a rod simulating a back stay. I will get some pics of it in action. Stay tuned! I am getting ready to race on a 72 foot boat with Brian Thompson and Rich Sterns both pro's, in the Rolex St Thomas Regatta next week. I have booked a spot on the boat through Safe Passage Sailing. My goal is to have cameras all over the boat and post daily video here, unless I get sidetracked after each race. So Check here next week and look for some exciting videos! I will be using VIO HD cameras. Mast mount and the stern rail mount, P5200 for a Canon HD video camera. I hope to have a prototype of the new Back Stay Mount using a GoPro camera. 3 people will be wearing microphones to help with sound. I use the Sennheiser G2 and G3 mics. I will also be testing a lower priced microphone by Sony...now that GoPro, Contour and VIO all have mic inputs finding a reasonable priced wireless mic has been a problem. So....if the Sony works, it only retails for around $100.00 then I could offer these with the cameras and mounts. Feel fee to ask me any questions about mounts cameras and or Microphones, or whatever....Check out Safe Passage Sailing |
