A thirsty sailor runs from his boat to the nearest bar and shouts to the bartender, "Give me twenty shots of your best scotch, quick!"

The bartender pours out the shots, and the sailor drinks them as fast as he can. The bartender is very impressed and exclaims, "Wow. I never saw anybody drink that fast."

The sailor replies, "Well, you'd drink that fast too, if you had what I have."

The bartender says, "Oh my God! What is it? What do you have?"

"Fifty cents!"

Great regatta of Coed Nationals....Charleston takes home the trophy!  You can see some clips from the on-board cameras on my video page.

36 boats competing in two divisions.  18 colleges qualified this year to compete and it was tight.  George Town took second...they were last years winners.  At one point they were with-in 7 points of Charleston on the last day.

Busy summer for me, and I'm looking forward to a lot of sailing!!  This year is different for me in that I will have another boat available for our family and friends to sail on in the Apostle Islands in Bayfield Wisconsin on Lake Superior.  It is a Ranger 37 in great shape!  We worked on it all last weekend, here is a picture of it up on the hard.
Add to that we also sail our S2 7.9 twice a week on Lake Minnetonka and then I will be captaining on a Sabre 36 in Bayfield race week.  Then, The Chicago Mac, my tenth, on a Catalina 400 Cruiser in the Cruising fleet.  Of course cameras and mounts on all boats, so I should have some more footage to put up.
College Nationals St Pete, next week...filming for ESPN U.  Mast mount and VIO cameras.

I'm looking forward to providing on board video for the College Co Ed Nationals held in St. Petersburg Florida this year.  The show will be on ESPNU sometime in June or July.  I use VIO cameras because the profile of the lipstick camera doesn't get caught on the jib sheets as easily as the GoPro.  The VIO also will run 6 hrs on Lithium batteries, so I don't have to bother the sailors as much.  Also we can choose the file to be .mov which is easier to transfer and edit with.

The cameras will be on a self leveling mast mount (P50).

More challenging for mounting cameras may be the Governor's Cup in New Port Harbor CA. this July.  The boats have no rails or cleats...may need to use suction cups and or mast mounts.  I also may use the GoPro using the wifi remote control to save batteries and memory.  Keep in touch!

Frustrating spring, the lake is still frozen, we got 4inches of snow last night!  Normally our boat is about to be launched and it is still in the shed!  New main sail, new life lines and halyards some soft spots around stanchions all need to get done...so how is your boat today?
