David Rearick is sailing around the world in an open 40. He is now on his way to the Galapagos Islands. Dave purchased our P5000 and you can see it on the stern of his boat...no camera mounted at the time but I was happy to to see it there working. You can follow his trip at bodaciousdreamexpiditions.com
Skyhawk is almost ready to launch...painted mast, repaired the bottom, no serious problems. Now we just need to paint on VC17 and we're ready to go, just waiting on the ice!
Before and after pics of mast and boom
Our boat a S2 7.9 is 31 years old and starting to need more work. She is at the shop now for some minor repairs and I hope to get the mast painted next week. Here are some pics of Skyhawk at the shop. First race May 4th if the ice goes out in time!
At least mentally, things are warming up. My Boat Skyhawk goes into the hospital for some repairs next Thursday. We plan to fix a paint issue and some cracks here and there as well as a few blisters, along with painting the mast and boom.
We had our crew meeting last night and hope to improve all around in our racing skills. We are in the top 3 to 5 in our fleet of 14 S2 7.9's at Wayzata and set a goal to win a couple of the series. We normally miss a 3 of our races at Wayzata due to racing the Chicago Mac race each year for the past 10 years. The boat we raced on is up for sale, so we will pore more into our own campaign this year!
My Phantom 2 has not arrived yet....delayed due to demand, but is on it's way
I should be receiving my Phantom 2 with Gimbal next week! We are gearing up for the College Nations in Maryland this year and we will have Horizon True camera mounts and cameras using the mast mount and VIO camaras...long battery life on 4 boats. I also will be using the Phantom 2 for aerial shots with a GoPro 3+ Black camera. The regatta will air on ESPN U this summer! I purchased the quad-copter from Atlanta Hobby. Look for some test video to come...even before the snow melts!
This long hard winter, only half way through, it makes one dream of sailing again! But, knowing it won't happen soon, a boat project list in in order. Just maybe I can find a day where my boat partner and I can start working on our S2 7.9. We recently found some horizontal cracks just below the waterline and will be checking them out in the near future. We also have paint coming off where bow stickers when removed after our last regatta took the paint with it! I'll post some pictures later and update progress on our boat repairs.
Horizon True camera mounts had a good show in Chicago despite low turn out of customers and vendors! (I though the economy was suppose to be improving!)
I have received suggestions that I need to put up a video on all the mounts and mounting options showing how it all works, so that will be coming soon as well!
Please feel free to ask questions of me here on this blog!
Looking forward to see you all at the boat show! It is always a great time talking about cameras, mounts, boats and new ideas for getting a camera on your boat!! We will have some new accessory mounts this year like pole mounts for your GoPro camera or even smart phone mounts, strong suction cup mounts, cleat mounts, back stay mounts, just to name a few! Come to my booth and mention this blog and receive an additional $50.00 off any Horizon True self-leveling camera mount/GoPro package.
Keep an eye on the refurbished page, we do receive them from time to time and I fix them up for resale at a discounted price!
Have a wonderful Holiday and happy New Year!!
I just received a P5000 mount with P50 Mast mount adapter. I should have this up on the refurbish page later today. It is in great shape! I did replace the back cover of the hydraulic body so the anodizing doesn't quite match and the tube portion is a little scared but has a 1/4-20 end on it for more mounting options...plus it has two weights for more dampening options as well. The Mast mount adapter has a 18" strap on it.
I will be posting some pictures of it as well. These don't last long so keep checking back! Happy Holidays!
Come see us in Chicago starting Thursday January 23-26!!
We will have the latest in mounting options and GoPro Cameras in stock so come on down to Navy Pier!
Mention this blog comment and receive an additional $50.00 off on of the Horizon True P series package deals!
