Our trip was smooth sailing all the way up the lake.
The storm hit us just after crossing the finish line. We struggled with the sail and trying to get into port with driving rain and hail and winds of 60 Knots. I can't imagine what it was like with the reported wind speed of 100 knots in the area of WingNuts.
Lessons learned...The 6 survivors were all wearing life vest with lights and whistles. The crew of the boat Sociable rescued the 6 would have never found them that night without the strobe lights and whistle sounds. The Captain was quoted saying "we found a needle in a haystack!"
