Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Have you noticed many boats are no longer putting cameras on their boats...Why, I wonder? Could it be too much work to put it together, charge batteries etc. or too hard to edit? I would like your input...what do you think?
Our mounts at least make the mounting easier and many of my customers just leave the mount on and add the camera when they race. Of course the self-leveling make it easier on the eye when watching the video!
Over a year ago I purchased a "project boat". Not realizing how many projects were in this boat, I probably wouldn't have moved on it...but it is coming along! Here are some pictures, from simple greasing the winches to repairing wet balsa in the bottom. New hatches, new lines, new clutches, new radio and rewiring, patching holes...fairing the bottom, new bottom...time to go sailing!
Pro's and Con's using a powered gimbaled mounts:
Pro's: Smoother, more accurate video leveling correction,
3 axis leveling.
Con's: Fragile, needs battery shortens usage time, made for specific camera's, not always water proof, high maintenance. limited mounting options, usually more expensive.
Pro's and Con's using our Self-leveling mounts:
Pro's: Easy to use and maintain, no battery, allows for different cameras of varying weights, mounts on rail mast spreader, wherever!, Waterproof, strong, will take abuse. Inexpensive.
Con's: Not as accurate, slight delay in leveling (due to dampening). Single axis leveling.
Comment here if you have tried using a powered gimbal mount!
